Hinged bath screens come in different widths and heights, so compare the glass dimensions with the shower outlet and standing position. Buying a suitably proportioned panel helps contain spray without making the bath entrance unnecessarily restricted.

The bath rim is suitable

The lower seal needs to meet a sufficiently level section of the bath edge throughout normal use. Check the rim profile, wall position and intended mounting side using the individual screen and bath drawings before purchase.

A hinged screen needs unobstructed space wherever the glass is designed to move. A fixed or folding bath screen may suit the layout better when a basin, tap, shelf or nearby wall prevents the panel from opening safely.

A single hinged panel may not contain enough spray for a powerful or broadly directed shower. A wider fixed-and-hinged combination or multi-panel screen may provide better coverage where water regularly reaches beyond a standard glass panel.

The mounting side is incompatible

Some hinged bath screens are handed or designed for a particular wall orientation, while others may be reversible. Select another model if the hinge position, seal direction or opening movement does not suit the tap end and room layout.

    Some are, but not every model can be fitted on either side. Confirm the mounting orientation and manufacturer’s installation drawing, particularly where taps, walls or nearby furniture determine which side must carry the hinge.

  • Will one hinged panel stop all splashing?

    No screen can guarantee complete containment in every layout. Coverage depends on the panel width and height, shower position, spray direction and user movement, so compare the technical dimensions with the intended over-bath showering area.
