Exposed cabinet sides can make fitted bathroom furniture look unfinished, especially at the end of a vanity or storage run. Base end panels are used to complete the side of bathroom base units, helping the furniture blend neatly with matching doors, drawers and worktops. They are useful for creating a cleaner fitted look in cloakrooms, en-suites and main bathrooms, particularly where the side of a unit remains visible after installation.

TAILS’ BASE-UNIT FINISH

Complete exposed base units with matching ends

Base end panels cover the visible side of compatible fitted bathroom base-unit carcasses, giving the end of a furniture run the same considered finish as its doors and drawers. They are a valuable finishing purchase wherever a floor-level cabinet does not meet another unit or a side wall.

Buying Base End Panels for Fitted Bathroom Furniture

Confirm exposed cabinet sides, carcass dimensions and furniture-range compatibility

A Base Unit End Panel Suits You If

The carcass side remains visible

An end panel gives an exposed floor-level cabinet side a finished furniture surface rather than leaving the structural carcass on display. It is particularly useful at the open end of a basin, storage or WC furniture run.

You want consistent furniture finishes

Selecting the panel from the same fitted furniture collection helps its colour, texture, sheen and edge detail relate to the adjoining doors or drawer fronts. This creates a more complete result than matching by colour name alone.

The base-unit dimensions are confirmed

The correct panel must suit the carcass height and depth, not simply the frontage width. Check the stated product pairing before buying so the panel covers the intended side without appearing short, oversized or incorrectly aligned.

A Base End Panel May Not Suit You If

The cabinet side is concealed

An additional panel may be unnecessary where the base unit sits tightly between adjoining cabinets or directly against a finished side wall. Check which carcass surfaces will remain visible before purchasing decorative end components for the run.

You need another panel type

Wall-unit and tall-unit end panels have different proportions from panels intended for floor-level carcasses. A similar finish does not make them interchangeable, so choose the component made for the exact unit position within the fitted furniture system.

The panel belongs to another range

An unrelated panel may differ in thickness, shade, surface texture and edge treatment even when its dimensions appear close. Select a confirmed compatible base end panel when it will sit directly beside matching furniture fronts.

Base End Panel FAQs

Exposed sides, panel quantities and furniture matching explained

  • What does a base end panel cover?

It covers the exposed side of a compatible fitted bathroom base-unit carcass. It is a decorative finishing component rather than a cabinet door, structural side or general wall panel, so its dimensions must match the intended furniture unit.

  • Do I need panels at both ends?

Only when both outer carcass sides remain visible. A furniture run ending against a wall may need one panel, while a freestanding group of base units can require a matching panel at each exposed end.

  • Will any matching-colour end panel fit?

No. The panel must suit the base-unit height, depth, thickness and furniture system as well as its visible finish. Use the manufacturer’s stated compatibility rather than choosing by colour, approximate size or appearance alone.

DESIGNER’S NOTE

Use matching panels on every exposed base-unit side, allowing the furniture run to end with the same colour and visual weight as its doors and drawers.
