Water control matters when fitting a shattaf, bidet spray or toilet douche beside the WC. Douche valves help manage flow for compatible douche kits, making them an important part of a neat and usable bathroom setup. Finish options can be matched with taps, flush plates, showers and other WC fittings, so the practical parts do not look mismatched. A shattaf valve helps complete the installation with a cleaner, more coordinated finish.
TAILS’ CONTROL CHECK
Control your douche supply at the wall
Douche valves provide a dedicated wall control for a handheld toilet spray, allowing the water supply to be operated independently of the handset trigger. The range includes different control arrangements for component-led installations, helping you select a valve suited to the intended water supply, hose and handset.
Which Douche Valves Suit Your Toilet Installation?
Establish the control type, hose arrangement and water-supply design
You are selecting components individually
A valve-only category suits installations where the douche handset, flexible hose and holder will be specified separately. This allows each visible component to be selected for its position and appearance rather than purchasing a predetermined complete kit.
You want positive supply control
A dedicated wall valve gives the user a clear point for turning off the water supply after use instead of leaving the hose continually pressurised. Check the operating sequence required for the individual valve and handset arrangement.
The control position is being planned
Planning the valve alongside the WC, holder and hose helps create an accessible operating position without excessive hose looping. Use the product dimensions to establish comfortable reach while preventing the controls from obstructing nearby furniture or sanitaryware.
You need every operating component
A douche control valve may be supplied without the spray handset, hose or wall bracket. A complete douche kit may be more appropriate when you want the principal components selected together rather than sourcing compatible parts individually.
The water arrangement is undecided
Do not select a simple shut-off or thermostatic douche valve until the intended cold-only or mixed-water arrangement has been established. The correct control type depends on the supplies and operating method planned for that installation.
Backflow protection remains unresolved
A valve alone does not make a toilet-side douche installation suitable. The complete water-supply design, including the required protection against contamination, should be established by a suitably qualified installer before products are ordered or pipework is concealed.
Douche Valve FAQs
Water temperature, mounting formats and post-use operation clarified
-
Does a thermostatic douche valve heat the water?
No. A thermostatic valve blends supplied hot and cold water; it does not heat cold water internally. Both the available supplies and the selected valve must be suitable for the installation designed by the installer.
-
Are douche valves concealed or exposed?
Both formats may be available. An exposed valve remains visible on the finished wall, while a concealed design places operating parts behind it. Check the required wall depth, access and visible trim shown for the individual model.
-
Should the valve be closed after every use?
Yes. The dedicated supply control should be turned off after use rather than relying solely on the handset trigger. Follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions for the selected valve, hose and spray arrangement.
DESIGNER’S NOTE
Position the valve clearly within the WC zone and relate its centre line and finish to the flush plate, keeping the hose route visually contained beside the pan.
