Tails’ Take: A Shower Base Designed Like a Cut Stone Slab

Azura avoids the rounded lip and deep moulded sides associated with traditional shower trays, using a crisp slab-like edge that sits neatly against large-format tiles and contemporary glass. Across the top, irregular slate impressions create subtle changes in light rather than a repetitive manufactured pattern, while the narrow end recess draws the eye towards the linear outlet without breaking up the main showering area with a prominent circular waste.

Where Does This Azura Tray Work Best?

Choose it around the room layout and drainage position rather than appearance alone.

✓
A Good Match For

Minimal Walk-In and Frameless Shower Schemes

Its restrained perimeter works naturally with clear glass and bathrooms designed around uncluttered horizontal lines.

Pale Interiors Needing More Surface Character

The white finish remains visually light while the slate relief prevents the shower floor from appearing flat.

Projects with Flexible Underfloor Drainage

An installer can plan the pipework around the outlet position before the tray and surrounding floor are completed.

Consider Another Option When

Existing Pipework Cannot Reach an End Outlet

Moving fixed drainage may add installation work compared with choosing a tray that matches the current waste location.

A Smooth Polished Shower Floor Is Preferred

The stone-inspired relief is deliberately tactile and will look different from conventional glossy acrylic.

The Project Requires a Complete One-Box Kit

The correct drain component and compatible shower enclosure or screen need to be specified as separate products.

Enclosure Compatibility, Floor Preparation and Drain Planning

Can this tray be used with a walk-in screen or shower enclosure?

It can form the base of either arrangement, provided the selected glass is designed for the same tray footprint and installation layout. Check the enclosure’s adjustment range rather than relying only on its nominal size, particularly where tiled walls may not be perfectly square. A walk-in screen also needs enough length and positioning to control water within the showering area.

Can the Azura tray be installed level with the surrounding floor?

That depends on the available floor build-up, supporting structure and drainage depth. The tray’s low-profile construction may suit a more integrated installation, but a completely flush result should not be assumed. The installer must assess the subfloor, waste connection and waterproofing requirements before deciding the finished floor level.

What should be checked before ordering the SLATE-DRAIN?

Confirm that the drain is the specified Scudo component for the Azura Slate range and that the remaining plumbing can connect to it within the available floor space. The drainage route, discharge capacity and access for installation should be agreed with the installer before the tray is fixed, avoiding alterations after surrounding tiles or panels have been completed.
