Tails’ Take: Give the Basin a Dark Architectural Centrepiece

The Scudo matt black square curved slotted sprung basin waste replaces the usual small round plug with a broad, sculpted cap that gives the centre of the bowl real visual purpose. Its 60mm square outline feels crisp and modern, but the shallow curve across the top catches the light more softly than a completely flat plate; pair it with a black basin mixer and the two fittings frame the white bowl beautifully, creating a much more deliberate finish while keeping operation as simple as a press from above.

Who Should Buy

Basins Designed for a Slotted Waste

This model suits basin installations specifically requiring a slotted waste rather than an unslotted alternative.

Wash Areas Wanting a Strong Black Accent

The broad matt black cap can connect the basin with matching taps, handles and shower fittings around the room.

Users Preferring Push-Button Operation

The sprung mechanism lets the waste be opened and closed directly from the top without a chain or remote control.

Who Shouldn’t Buy

Basins Requiring an Unslotted Waste

Slotted and unslotted wastes serve different basin arrangements, so this model should not be selected by finish alone.

Installations Outside the Fitting Range

The basin and adjoining components must accommodate the confirmed 35–50mm fitting range.

Rounded Basins Wanting a Subtle Waste Cover

The prominent 60 x 60mm square top creates a stronger feature than a small conventional round waste.

Slotted Compatibility, Sprung Control and Fitting Depth

Why is this Scudo basin waste described as slotted?

The slotted specification identifies the basin arrangement this waste is intended to accompany. It should be selected only where a slotted model is required, as an unslotted waste is constructed differently and should not be substituted simply because the visible cap looks similar. Check the basin requirements before ordering, especially when replacing an existing waste or completing a newly purchased basin.

How is the curved square top operated?

The 60 x 60mm cap is pressed from above to operate the sprung mechanism. Pressing it closes the waste so the basin can hold water, while pressing it again releases the mechanism for drainage. The gently curved upper surface gives the fitting a more sculpted appearance than a flat square plate and provides a clear area to press during everyday use.

What should be measured beneath the basin before fitting it?

The waste measures 80mm in overall height and has a confirmed fitting range of 35–50mm, together with a G1¼ threaded nut connection. Check the basin around the waste opening and allow sufficient room below for the waste body and adjoining pipework. Drawer boxes, shelves, pedestal sections and other fittings beneath the basin should not obstruct the completed connection.
