Tails’ Take: One Tap with Two Distinct Finishing Looks

The Scudo Core Polished Chrome Round Mono Basin Mixer Tap combines a cylindrical body, slim lever and softly downturned fixed spout in a compact design that works neatly with modern basins. Two supplied handle options let you choose between a diamond cross-hatch detail for a more tactile, industrial accent or a smooth finish for a cleaner appearance, without changing the rest of the tap. Polished chrome keeps the look bright and easy to coordinate with matching wastes and bathroom accessories, while WRAS approval and included flexible tails add useful reassurance when planning the installation.

Does the Core Match Your Basin, Water System and Preferred Detail?

Confirm the basin drilling, available pressure and temperature-control requirements before choosing this single-hole mixer.

Who Should Buy

Bathrooms Wanting a Choice of Handle Character

The interchangeable diamond cross-hatch and smooth handle options allow the same tap to take on either a more textured or restrained appearance.

Basins Designed for Single-Hole Brassware

The mono mixer requires one 35mm tap hole, keeping the basin area less crowded than a multi-hole tap arrangement.

Schemes Coordinating Bright Chrome Fittings

Its polished chrome finish can be carried across shower controls, wastes and accessories for a consistent bathroom scheme.

Water Supplies Below the Stated Operating Range

The confirmed operating range starts at 0.5 bar, so systems below this pressure should not be assumed to deliver suitable performance.

Projects Requiring TMV-Approved Brassware

The Core is WRAS approved but not TMV approved, so it is unsuitable where a specification expressly requires TMV approval.

Customers Expecting a Complete Tap-and-Waste Set

Flexible tails are included, but the basin waste is not supplied and must be selected separately to suit the basin.

Handle Choice, Basin Drilling and Pressure for the Scudo Core

What is the difference between the two handles supplied with this Core mixer?

Both options retain the tap’s slim lever format but change the detailing around the control. The diamond cross-hatch version introduces a textured band that gives the polished chrome tap a more engineered appearance, while the smooth option creates a simpler, less decorative finish. This allows the Core to be coordinated with either textured industrial-style fittings or cleaner round bathroom brassware.

What does the basin need for installation of this Scudo Core tap?

The basin or mounting surface must accept a single 35mm tap hole. The mixer uses a 1/2″ M10 inlet connection and is supplied with flexible tails, but the basin waste is not included. Check the basin’s tap ledge and the space beneath it before installation, particularly where the bowl, furniture or internal pipework could restrict access to the connection area.

Can the Core basin mixer be used at 0.2 bar?

Although a flow rate of 2.5l/min is listed at 0.2 bar, the confirmed minimum operating pressure is 0.5 bar. The tap should therefore be selected for supplies operating between 0.5 and 5 bar. At the minimum stated pressure it delivers 4l/min, increasing to 6l/min at 1 bar and 10.6l/min at 3 bar. Check the available dynamic pressure rather than relying on the lower test figure.
