TAILS’ SHOWER CONTROL GUIDE

Choose the right controls for your complete shower setup

Shower valves control the temperature, flow and selected water outlet within a shower system. Explore exposed and concealed designs, thermostatic and manual controls, plus valves for single and multiple shower functions. Start with your planned head, handset and plumbing arrangement, then choose a valve that can operate them correctly.

Which Shower Valve Is Right for Your Shower?

Compare temperature control, installation style and the number of outlets your shower requires

Shop This Shower Valve Collection If

You are planning the complete shower system

This parent collection brings together valves for fixed heads, handsets and multi-function shower arrangements. Comparing the wider range helps you establish the correct outlet count and control layout before narrowing your choice to a particular valve type.

You are deciding between exposed and concealed controls

Exposed valves keep the main body visible and accessible on the finished wall, while concealed models hide most working components behind it. Browsing both formats lets you balance installation requirements, servicing access and the appearance you want.

You want the controls to suit your routine

Shower valves can provide separate temperature and flow controls, combined mixer operation or independent selection between connected outlets. Comparing these arrangements helps you choose controls that feel intuitive for the people using the shower every day.

Narrow to a More Specific Shower Valve Category If

You already know the temperature-control type

The wider collection can include thermostatic and manual mixer valves. Shopping directly by control type removes unsuitable options when temperature regulation, simplicity or a particular operating method has already been decided.

Your number of shower outlets is fixed

A valve designed for one outlet will not control a two- or three-function arrangement. Filtering by outlet count makes it easier to compare valves suited to your exact combination of overhead heads, handsets or other compatible shower functions.

Your wall construction limits the installation

Concealed valves require sufficient wall depth and planned access to their working components. An exposed valve may be more suitable where the wall cannot accommodate a concealed body or where easier future servicing is a priority.

Shower Valve FAQs

Valve types, outlet counts and installation requirements explained

  • What types of shower valve are available?

The main options include thermostatic and manual mixer valves in exposed or concealed formats. They are also available with different outlet capacities and control arrangements for single-head and multi-function shower systems.

  • What is the difference between thermostatic and manual shower valves?

A thermostatic valve regulates the hot and cold mix to help maintain the selected temperature when supply conditions change. A manual mixer relies on the user adjusting the balance directly and does not provide the same thermostatic regulation.

  • How many outlets does my shower valve need?

Count the separate water-delivery functions you intend to control, such as an overhead shower and handset. Also check whether you want to switch between them or operate selected functions together, as simultaneous use is not supported by every multi-outlet valve.

  • Does a shower valve include the head and handset?

Usually not unless the product is sold as part of a complete shower set. Valve-only listings may include the control body and visible trim while requiring compatible heads, arms, handsets, hoses and outlets to be purchased separately.

DESIGNER’S NOTE

Position the controls where they can be reached without standing beneath the initial spray, then relate their shape and finish to the shower head and handset for a clear, coordinated arrangement.
