Tails’ Take: The Valve That Makes a Traditional Shower Look Properly Finished

The Kartell Klassique exposed thermostatic shower valve brings the character of traditional brassware to the centre of the shower instead of hiding it behind the wall. Its polished chrome body, detailed crosshead and contrasting white lever look superb beside classic taps and period-style bathroom furniture. Sold as the valve only, it also gives you the freedom to choose the compatible shower kit that best suits your room and budget.

Is the Klassique Valve Right for the Shower You Are Planning?

Confirm the single-outlet layout, 150mm pipe centres and separately required shower fittings before installation.

Who Should Buy

Customers Building Their Own Single-Outlet Shower

Buying the valve separately lets you choose a compatible handset, slide rail or other single shower outlet to suit the room.

Homes with Different Water-System Arrangements

The valve is suitable for balanced combi, unvented, gravity-fed and pumped systems operating within the stated pressure range.

Who Shouldn’t Buy

Customers Expecting a Complete Shower Set

This is the valve only and does not include a handset, hose, slide rail or fixed shower head.

Showers Requiring Two Switchable Outlets

The Klassique valve supplies one outlet and does not include a diverter for an overhead shower and separate handset.

Pipework That Cannot Match the Required Centres

The wall supplies must be prepared at 150mm centres with balanced hot and cold pressures for the valve to operate correctly.

What to Know Before Ordering the Kartell Klassique Valve

What does each handle control on the Klassique valve?

The decorative crosshead adjusts the thermostatic water temperature, while the white lever controls the water flow. A thermostatic safety stop is set at 38°C to help prevent the temperature being increased accidentally. The two contrasting handle styles also make the controls easier to distinguish during use.

What must the installer check before fitting the exposed valve?

The hot and cold wall supplies should be positioned at 150mm centres and must provide balanced pressure. The available operating pressure should fall between 0.1 and 5 bar, while the 195mm width, 139mm height and 147mm projection should be checked against the planned shower position and nearby fittings.
